Furthermore, a powerful indicator of the platform’s commercial utility is that the number of high-performing Mini Programs processing over RMB 10 million (approximately US$1.4 million) in monthly transactions doubled compared to the same period in the previous year.

Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR were tied for the top position in both total transaction volume and value, once again demonstrating their appeal to cross-border travelers.

Rapid growth was also evident in transaction volumes across multiple countries and regions including Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore, Japan, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

The transportation sector saw the largest expenditure growth via Weixin Pay, increasing 40% year-on-year, thanks to services like Japan’s GO Taxi and South Korea’s Busan Metro enabling seamless QR code entry and mobile ticketing for Chinese users.

Strategic Partnerships and Future Growth Outlook

The widespread acceptance of Weixin is being facilitated by a vast network of global service partners, ensuring seamless expansion and localization for merchants, and positioning the platform for sustained growth.
