The Fitwel standard addresses seven key health impact categories, including: designing spaces that promote the health of residents and benefit neighboring communities; creating environments conducive to exercise to reduce morbidity; ensuring social equity for vulnerable populations through universal design; instilling feelings of well-being through safe, relaxing spaces; enhancing access to healthy foods; promoting occupant safety by minimizing accident risk; and increasing physical activity by integrating design elements that encourage walking.
