Bermaz Auto Subsidiary Launches XPENG G6 Ultra Smart Coupe SUV

Bermaz Xpeng Sdn Bhd, which operates as an 85%-owned unit of Bermaz Auto Bhd (KL:BAUTO), officially launched the new XPENG G6 Ultra Smart Coupe SUV in Malaysia on Wednesday, October 1, with attractive prices starting from RM178,888.

This launch event marks the latest update to the G6 series, an electric vehicle (EV) model that was initially introduced to the local Malaysian market in August 2024.

The new iteration of the G6 model arrives with significant enhancements, boasting an upgraded smart feature set, improved performance, and a refined design, according to the company’s official statements.

Bermaz Xpeng, the entity responsible for the distribution, stressed that these improvements position the new XPENG G6 as a leading offering in the competitive EV space.

Datuk Francis Lee, the group CEO of Bermaz Auto, emphasized the brand’s global vision, stating that XPENG is “redefining design, intelligence and the driving experience.”

He noted that the EV industry is progressing faster than ever, with artificial intelligence (AI) rapidly reshaping the entire sector.

Crucially, he pointed out that what remains consistent is XPENG’s core vision to build vehicles differently, asserting its position as an EV pioneer with AI embedded into its very DNA.

The G6, a fully imported Completely Built-Up (CBU) unit from China, is built on XPENG’s next-generation SEPA 2.0 architecture, which ensures both improved driving dynamics and greater energy efficiency.

AI Integration Defines XPENG’s Vision and Product Strategy

The leadership at Bermaz Xpeng highlights that the XPENG brand is not positioned as a traditional automotive player; rather, its core differentiation stems from having Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the center of its operations and product development.

CEO Datuk Francis Lee made it clear that this commitment to AI extends beyond just cars, touching on various advanced technologies from robotics and autonomous driving vehicles to even flying cars, and ultimately aiming for what the company calls “embodied intelligence.”

XPENG believes this profound integration of AI will ultimately lead to a better quality of life for all consumers.

For the Malaysian market specifically, the automotive industry veteran revealed that “more models with strong AI capabilities will be coming to our shores soon,” indicating a sustained product pipeline for Bermaz Xpeng.

The new G6 model itself features significant technological upgrades both externally and internally.

It introduces a redesigned cabin with a new Super Star-Ring Interior, incorporating premium materials, adjustable ambient lighting, and a capacitive steering wheel.

Smart cockpit functions are highlighted by a large central display, advanced voice control capabilities, and seamless smartphone integration, all of which underscore the model’s intelligent core.

Bermaz Xpeng Sdn Bhd serves as the sole exclusive distributor of XPENG EVs and their spare parts in the country, while Prima Maju Auto Sdn Bhd handles the exclusive importer duties for XPENG in Malaysia.

Enhanced Performance, Design, and Warranty Package

The new XPENG G6 Ultra Smart Coupe SUV is equipped with the cutting-edge XPENG’s next-generation Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) 800V high-voltage SiC platform, featuring the industry’s first upgrade to 5C LFP batteries, alongside a comprehensive warranty and service package.

The vehicle’s performance and safety are significantly bolstered by a reinforced, “bulletproof-level” battery structure, which is robustly engineered to withstand extreme conditions, including temperatures reaching up to 1,000 degrees Celsius and side crush pressure of up to 80 tonnes.

This design also contributes to extending the battery lifespan by an impressive 30%.

In terms of aesthetics, the G6 showcases key exterior modifications, including a full-width Starlight Wing LED light bar with integrated turn signals, a redesigned rear diffuser, and a matte grey XPENG logo that has been subtly repositioned on the hood.

The wheel arches are now finished in body colour, and a new “Ducktail” rear design has been added to enhance visual length and stability.

Customers of the new G6 have a choice of five exterior colours— Arctic White, Graphite Grey, Midnight Black, Silver Frost and Stellar Purple—as well as a special Black Edition.

To support the adoption of the new model, Bermaz Xpeng is offering a strong after-sales package that includes a five-year manufacturer warranty (or 120,000km), a five-year free service and maintenance package (or 100,000km), and a lengthy eight-year high-voltage battery warranty (up to 160,000km), providing substantial peace of mind for buyers.
